One of my favorite summer jobs in high school was working at The Blue Plate Cafe in Union Pier, Michigan. Sure, I made less than minimum wage, and yes, I might have been asked out on a date in the walk-in freezer (talk about awkward... and cold), but the free meal at closing totally made up for it.

The pulled turkey sandwich called "Carolina's on my mind" is truly unforgettable. I still try to copy the tangy sauce, the buttery bun, and the perfectly pulled turkey breast, but there is nothing like the real thing. If you are ever in the area, make sure to stop by between 8am and 2pm. Tell the waitress with "Korn" tattooed on the back of her neck that Ashley says hi.
